A little boy’s hide-and-seek game goes wrong after he gets stuck in a shipping container and is discovered six days later in a completely different country.

The 15-year-old, identified only as Fahima, began his journey after he decided to hide in a transport box while playing a game in his home country of Bangladesh.

He did not know that the container was actually bound for Malaysia, and as he dozed off after spending several hours in hiding, he inadvertently found himself packed and sent on a 2,000-mile journey across the ocean.

The container left Bangladesh on January 11 and did not arrive at Malaysian Port Klang for another six days, leaving Fahim trapped inside with no access to food or water.

The frightened and hungry youth was eventually discovered by port officials nearly a week after he heard him pounding on the walls for help, prompting NCIS, local immigration officials and the health department to investigate.

Footage of a disoriented and visibly tired Fahim exiting the container was posted online.

In the video, he is visibly dehydrated and confused, surrounded by strangers and unable to speak the local language.

This is the moment when police release a little boy after spending five days locked in a shipping container as he crossed the Indian Ocean nearly 2,000 miles. Police in Port Klang, Malaysia, released a boy after a worker heard a thump while examining a container on January 17. Video footage of the boy named Fahim being released shows him blinking in the sunlight and looking exhausted and unsteady. As he limps out of the container, covered in dust, he seems to stagger and sit down in the doorway.

He briefly spoke to local residents before being placed on a stretcher and taken to a hospital for treatment, where he is reported to be in a stable condition.

While authorities initially suspected that he might be a victim of human trafficking, there was no evidence that a crime had taken place and they appear to have dropped their investigation after officials were able to contact the boy.

Interior Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution said in a statement: “When the ship arrived at Westport and the container was unloaded, the authorities found a boy inside.

“He is the only one inside the container. A statement was made to the police, the boy with a temperature was taken for a medical examination.

“Now we are engaged in his repatriation. He was the only boy found inside the container.

“We do not attribute this to human trafficking because the initial investigation showed that he entered the container, fell asleep and (was transported) to Malaysia.”

The police added that Fahim’s case had been handed over to immigration officials so he could be sent home on the same boat he arrived on.
