Doctor whose Tesla plunged 300ft down cliff charged with attempted murder of his family | World
A California doctor has been accused of trying to kill his wife and two young children by driving their car off a cliff.
Dharmesh Patel, 42, a radiologist in the Mission Hills suburb of Los Angeles, was driving his family’s white Tesla when it pulled off Highway 1 about 15 miles south of San Francisco. He dived 300 feet down a steep cliff along a stretch of highway known as Devil’s Hill, a notorious crash site.
At the time of the crash on January 2, officials said it was an “absolute miracle” that no one was killed, but already suspected that Patel had intentionally driven off the road. San Mateo County District Attorney Steven Wagstaffe said in an interview with the Los Angeles Times.
