Enoch Burke: Irish teacher remains at school despite fine deadline

Mr. Burke had previously been suspended from Wilson Hospital School on full pay pending the outcome of the disciplinary process against him.

This came after he publicly confronted his then principal at a June 2022 event in which he objected to addressing a student who changes gender with a new name and using the pronoun “they”.

Mr. Burke continued to show up at the scheduled time, which led the school to apply to the High Court for an injunction.

This order prevented him from attending or attempting to teach at the Wilson Hospital School.

After being repeatedly violated, Mr Burke was imprisoned at Mountjoy Prison in Dublin last September.

He was subsequently released almost four months later.

Mr. Burke stated that his removal from office and imprisonment were illegal.
