George Santos latest news: ‘Ex-partner’ says Santos only cared about fame and power, as FEC filings raise questions

George Santos: Imposter in Congress | On the ground
A Brazilian man who claims to be Rep. George Santos’ ex-boyfriend appeared on CNN Thursday and said Santos has always cared about “fame and power” and expects him to continue to reject calls for his resignation.
And on Tuesday, an amended financial disclosure form provided by the FIC raised questions from journalists and election law experts who spotted some rather glaring problems.
First, there are two loans – for $500,000 and $125,000 – that are no longer identified as coming from Mr. Santos’ personal funds, as they used to be.
And then there’s the oddly large number of donations of just under $200, an event that immediately raised questions about their legality.
Elsewhere, in a recent interview, Mr. Santos claimed to have met financier and pedophile Jeffrey Epstein several times and touted a conspiracy theory that he was “murdered” in prison.
Epstein was found dead in his cell in August 2019 while awaiting trial in a child sex trafficking case. His death was ruled a suicide.
Mr. Santos then completely retracted his death, stating that he may still be alive.
“I wouldn’t say he’s still walking around us and we’re all like, ‘Oh my God, this guy’s alive,’ and we can’t tell,” he said. “You know what, it’s 2020, anything can happen.”
Santos is asked if he is following RuPaul’s Drag Race.

Treasurer named in George Santos campaign says he doesn’t work for him
George Santos is facing another headache thanks to amended paperwork filed with the Federal Election Commission this week.
The New York congressman has already faced calls for him to resign or be fired – from both parties – even before he filed papers with the Federal Election Commission this week. Now these documents become the source of problem after problem, each of which can break the law.
The latest issue flagged by ABC News reporters on Thursday relates to filings that several fundraising committees working on behalf of the Santos 2022 campaign have submitted to the agency indicating a change in the person appointed as committee treasurer. These committees are now listed as financially controlled by Thomas Detwyler, a longtime campaign finance specialist.
But there’s just one problem: Mr. Datwyler categorically told ABC News that he didn’t work for the Santos campaign, and actually let them know before the FEC documents were presented.
