Republican Congressman George Santos sparked outrage with his Holocaust commemoration speech after he lied about his Jewish heritage.
On Holocaust Remembrance Day Friday, Santos commemorated victims and survivors in the boardroom and denounced anti-Semitism.
“Anti-Semitism is a plague in this country and we certainly must make sure that a tragedy like this never happens again,” he said.
New York MP Daniel Goldman called Santos “disgusting and offensive” for speaking about the Holocaust, given that he was previously caught lying about being Jewish and his grandparents fled the Holocaust.
Mr. Santos, who came under scrutiny for lying about much of his past, later retracted claims about his origins, saying he was “Jewish”.
Meanwhile, the Justice Department has given the clearest signal that it has launched a criminal investigation into his campaign finances, asking the Federal Election Commission to delay any execution while they conduct a parallel investigation.
George Santos stated that Epstein may still be alive in a 2020 interview
Republican Congressman George Santos said in August 2020 that Jeffrey Epstein “might still be alive” – a year after a pedophile committed suicide in his Manhattan jail cell.

Federal prosecutors said they were investigating George Santos because some donors could not be found.
Federal prosecutors are likely looking into Republican Congressman George Santos’ campaign finances after the Justice Department asked the Federal Election Commission to delay any enforcement action, the sources said. Washington Post.

Many of Congressman’s Top 2020 Donors Don’t Exist, Report Says
According to an investigation carried out Mother Jones.

Santos claimed to have a “personal relationship” with the CEO of California’s pension system.
While working for a small Harbor City investment firm in Florida, Mr. Santos claimed to have “a personal relationship with Marcy Frost, CEO of CalPERS.”
He said they had “many good relationships over the past four years”.
