George Santos news: Santos steps down from committees and clashes with OAN reporter

George Santos: Imposter in Congress | On the ground
Republican Congressman George Santos faces another challenge after his longtime treasurer escaped ship amid alleged investigations by the Federal Election Commission (FEC) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) into his campaign finances.
Nancy Marks formally submitted her resignation to the FEC on Tuesday from the serial liar campaign and four other associated political committees.
Her resignation came a week after Mr. Santos’s campaign filed paperwork to appoint a new treasurer, Thomas Detwiler, only to have Mr. Detweiler reveal that he had resigned from the position and the congressman put him on the list without his permissions.
This prompted the Federal Election Commission to issue a legal warning to Mr. Santos’ campaign for “knowingly and knowingly providing any materially false, fictitious, or fraudulent statement or representation to a federal government agency.”
The Justice Department then signaled that it had launched its own criminal investigation into Mr. Santos’ campaign finance, asking the Federal Election Commission to delay any of its own actions while it conducted a parallel investigation.
Along with the legal turmoil, Mr. Santos resigned his committee assignments on Tuesday – just days after they were appointed – and continues to be scrutinized by the many lies.

This is just the latest issue that arose from the altered documents that the congressman’s campaign headquarters filed with the Federal Election Commission last week.

George Santos claims that he has “learned my lesson” but insists that everything has “been basically always fair”.
George Santos has stated that he has “learned his lesson” but insists that “in many ways always been honest.”
The congressman spoke to OAN’s Caitlin Sinclair on Wednesday, hours after he stepped down from his committee positions.
“I learned my lesson. I can guarantee you that from now on everything will always be fair, ”he said.
He then went on to insist that he was “mostly” always honest, but he just needed to “recheck”.
“Mostly it has always been frank. Now I’ll just take an extra step to double-check,” he said.
The congressman continued to rage at the media, which he claims put him to “trial by fire” for exposing a series of lies to the American people.
“People should be judged by their actions, not by a fire trial through the media, which is what I have experienced over the past couple of weeks,” he said.
