‘Hundreds’ of Russian soldiers dying in battle for strategic Ukrainian town

This came after Poland said it would send 60 modernized Soviet tanks to Ukraine, on top of its promise to send 14 German-made Leopard II tanks.

“If we do not want Ukraine to fail, we must be very open and courageous in supporting Ukraine,” Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki told CTV News on Friday.

Last April, Poland became the first NATO member to send tanks to Ukraine, donating some 250 Soviet tanks.

Ukraine has said it needs about 300 tanks from its Western allies to break through Russian defensive lines that have been stagnant for months. Two days ago, Germany finally agreed to send battle tanks to Kyiv.

On Friday, Mr. Morawiecki accused Vladimir Putin of building “new camps” during the war against Ukraine.

“On the anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi German death camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, let’s remember that Putin is building new camps further east,” he wrote on Facebook on Holocaust Remembrance Day, without going into details.

“Solidarity and consistent support for Ukraine are effective ways to ensure that the circle of history does not repeat itself.”
