The Italian mother of a murdered 18-year-old came to court wearing a T-shirt with a print of her daughter’s dismembered body after her killer appealed part of the verdict.
Pamela Mastropietro was killed and dismembered in January 2018 by Nigerian drug trafficker Innocent Osegal. He appealed the part of the verdict that initially found that he had sexually assaulted the teenager before killing her.
Mastropietro’s mother, Alessandra Verni, attended an appeals court in Perugia yesterday wearing a T-shirt that featured horrific images of her daughter’s body.
At one point, a confrontation broke out in the courtroom as the police pulled Vernie and Osegale apart. The court hearing will resume next month.

“Did you see what they did to her?” Vernie said of her murdered daughter.
“This man who raped and tortured her should rot in prison.”
Her T-shirt featured the dismembered head of her daughter. A series of heartbreaking pictures were also formed in such a way that individual body parts made up the structure of the body.
Osegale, 32, was found guilty and sentenced to prison in 2019 for the murder of 18-year-old Mastropietro and is appealing part of his sentence for rape.
Osegale arrived in Italy in 2014 as an asylum seeker but dropped out of his refugee program in 2017, a year before he killed Mastropietro.
The judge asked Osegal if he intended to participate in the next hearing in February. After a discussion with his lawyer, he told the court that he would not.
The mutilated and dismembered body of Mastropietro was found in suitcases thrown into a ditch.

Verni, who at that time was in the courtroom in a T-shirt, shouted loudly: “Now even the executioner is asked whether he wants to participate in the trial or not.
“Let’s do the red carpet here too,” she added.
They then met face to face, and as the police escorted Osegal out of the courtroom, he yelled, “Enough of the prosecution.”
Verni rushed to him and shouted, “Tell me… tell me what you want.”
Both were immediately removed by the courtroom police.
Osegala’s life sentence will be reduced if an appeals court finds him not guilty of rape.
Mastropietro was killed after leaving a drug treatment center in Macerata in the Marche region in early 2018.
Investigators understood that she had decided to leave the facility and walked to the local train station.

An autopsy revealed that Pamela Mastropietro had died from successive stab wounds to the abdomen. It also turned out that her body was dismembered while still alive.
After leaving the rehabilitation center, Mastropietro tried to find drugs in Macerata. She then met Osegale, a local Nigerian drug dealer who was 29 at the time.
A day later, a passer-by noticed two abandoned suitcases in a small ditch. The mutilated and dismembered body of Mastropietro was found inside the suitcase.
Drug dealer Osegale was accused of selling drugs to Mastropietro, after which he detained, raped and stabbed her. The police found Mastropietro’s bloodied clothes at Osegal’s house.
The Nigerian claimed in his testimony that Mastropietro died of a heroin overdose.
However, an autopsy revealed that Mastropietro had died due to successive stab wounds to the abdomen. It also turned out that her body was dismembered while still alive.
The Nigerian was accused of murder, sexual harassment, concealment and destruction of the body. He contested the allegations in court in February 2019.
He was found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment with eighteen months of solitary confinement.
