Putin’s troops guilty of torture in Ukraine, admits Russian lieutenant | News


A former Russian army officer admitted that President Putin’s troops tortured Ukrainian prisoners of war and threatened some with rape.

Lieutenant Konstantin Yefremov told the BBC he witnessed men being shot and beaten at a station in the Zaporozhye region in southern Ukraine. At least one of them was subjected to a mock execution.

At one of the interrogations in the city of Bilmak, Efremov said that he had seen a “crazy” Russian colonel shoot a prisoner in the arm and right leg. According to him, another prisoner had his teeth knocked out.
