Russian Troops Offered Bounties for Destroying Western Tanks in Ukraine


The Russian company has proposed a cash reward of up to 5 million rubles ($71,648) for the destruction or capture of Western-made tanks recently promised to Ukraine by its European and American allies.

Several Western countries, including the USA and Germany. announced they will provide extended ctanks to help boost Kyiv’s military capability last week, prompting Moscow to threaten to destroy any tanks sent to Kyiv.

Behind the proposal is the Ekaterinburg company “Fores”. said on Friday that, in addition to the 5 million ruble reward for capturing or destroying the first tank, it will also pay 500,000 rubles ($7,164) for each successive tank.

“The decision to move Western tanks to Kyiv shows that NATO is no longer supplying only defensive weapons to Ukraine and means that we need to consolidate and support our army,” Fores said in a statement.

Fores did not respond to The Moscow Times’ request for comment.

Last week, the governor of the Trans-Baikal Territory of Siberia, Alexander Osipov, also promised a reward of up to 3 million rubles ($42,900) for the capture of a German Leopard 2 tank and 1.5 million rubles ($21,450) for the capture of an American M1 Abrams.

Russian regional volunteer battalions also offered one-time payments and bonuses for destroying enemy heavy equipment, including payments of up to 300,000 rubles ($4,290) for destroying an enemy tank or aircraft.
